I take this opportunity to thank you for your support of the YES programme. I would like to explain the charge of $30 for CPD-accredited tea gathering workshops. Law Society charges $500 administration cost for my application. Where I have to use an outside venue to accommodate a greater number of participants, the room hire is about $900 - 1,200. The charge of $30 is meant to cover these costs. For the talk on 7 January, LegCo considered the expenditure was appropriate for reimbursement, and so the money collected ($810) on that occasion was donated to tsunami relief with the permission of those who paid. However, for the later workshops, LegCo has refused reimbursement. This is most confusing. To avoid future complication, I propose to continue to charge a small fee to cover costs and forgo reimbursement altogether. Accounts will be kept for the amount collected, so that any surplus for one event will be used towards deficit in another. I hope you will find the above proposal satisfactory.
