Friday Tea Gathering on 5 December 2008

Friday Tea Gathering on 5 December 2008

Topic: Practical Application of Racial Discrimination Ordinance

Speaker: Mr. Herman Poon, Chief Legal Counsel,
Equal Opportunities Commission

The Race Discrimination Ordinance was passed in July 2008. What precisely does this mean to racial equality? There are practical implications which practitioners should be aware of, for themselves and in order to advise clients. Under the Ordinance, the EOC will issue Codes of Practice in relation to the Ordinance. A draft Code of Practice on Employment has been published for consultation. As legal counsel who knows the Ordinance intimately and who has participated in the bills committee stage, Mr. Herman Poon is extremely well placed to introduce the Ordinance to practitioners.

Date : 5 December 2008
Time : 6:30 pm – 7:45 pm
Venue: Room UT, SCOPE Admiralty Learning Centre,
City University of HK, 8/F., United Centre, Queensway, HK.
